Heygood Images Productions, Inc., originally established to function as a multimedia consulting firm, was created in 1987 by our founder and former President, Ralph Wiley. A renowned and well-respected author, journalist, essayist, public speaker, commentator, and screenwriter, Ralph Wiley set up Heygood Images Productions (also known simply as Heygood Images, HIP Inc., or HIP) to manage and develop various film, television, and print projects representing a wide spectrum of untapped voices in American black culture. With a client list that included such notable figures as Muhammad Ali, Arthur Ashe, Jim Brown, Johnnie Cochran, Eric Davis, Raghib Ismail, Spike Lee, Jerry Rice, and John Thompson, the company quickly made an influential mark in the entertainment and sports realms. With Ralph Wiley’s unexpected passing in 2004, Heygood Images has successfully gone through a period of rebuilding and restructuring in an effort to maintain the prestigious reputation that the company had build up under the guidance of its former chairman.

With a range of published and unpublished materials under its belt, HIP has taken a new role within the entertainment realm, focusing sharply on the development and production of independent films. Under the guidance of current President, Cole Wiley, Heygood Images has become a repository of feature-length screenplays, teleplays, and other print material that is expected to fuel the company’s international foray into the film and television markets. In addition, HIP is actively financing and producing a number of dramatic, comedic, experimental, and documentary film projects.
HIP is currently developing its most challenging and ambitious project to date, After the Storm, an independent feature film to be shot in New Orleans, Louisiana. For more details about this film, and to find more information about other ventures, please visit the HIP Projects and HIP News pages.
